Unlock Gloves in Punch Up
Spend Hits wisely on punch power, movement speed, and cosmetic funny faces.
Glove unlocks are Punch Up’s main progression gate. Every purchase spends Hits earned from punches and ring-outs — see Farm Hits for income. This guide explains stat tradeoffs, recommended order, and how cosmetics differ from combat upgrades.
How glove unlocking works
Open the glove shop from the lobby UI (exact button label may vary). Each glove displays:
- Hit cost — one-time purchase from your account total
- Punch power — knockback and damage toward ring-outs
- Movement speed — traversal and recovery
Purchases are permanent for your account. There is no resale system assumed — spend carefully using Glove Compare and Gloves Tier List.
Power vs speed — the core tradeoff
Imagine a spectrum:
- Heavy gloves — delete opponents near edges but feel sluggish rotating camera at rim
- Light gloves — stick to targets and dodge Bomb Punch but need extra hits per knockout
Neither extreme suits every player. Beginner Build recommends mid-speed first; Competitive Build shifts toward power after mastering Double Jump from Abilities Explained.
Recommended unlock order (general)
- First speed bump — reach center fights faster in crowded lobbies
- Moderate power upgrade — convert more punches into ring-outs
- Double Jump ability — not a glove, but Hits unlock that saves farming time
- Second speed or power based on playstyle — consult Beginner Loadout Tier List
- Cosmetic funny face — after your second stat glove, customize looks guilt-free
Skipping straight to top-tier gloves wastes Hits if you cannot control high power near edges — learn Controls first.
Abilities use the same Hits pool
Ground Pound, Double Jump, and Bomb Punch compete with gloves for currency. Typical priority for new players:
- One stat glove
- Double Jump
- Second stat glove
- Ground Pound or Bomb Punch depending on Abilities Tier List
Knockout specialists may rush Bomb Punch earlier — read Knockout Strategy before committing.
Cosmetics: funny faces
Funny faces and visual variants do not alter punch power or movement speed. They are pure flair visible to other players in the 14-player arena. Unlock them when:
- You have at least two meaningful stat upgrades
- You want to spot your glove in chaotic center brawls
- You earned spare Hits after a Knockout mode bonus
Do not buy faces before your first power upgrade unless you purely care about aesthetics.
Planning purchases with tools
Before spending 5,000+ Hits on a glove:
- Open Glove Compare — pit current vs target glove
- Cross-check tier on Gloves Tier List
- Align with Builds Hub loadout goals
After balance patches
Build Tower Team may adjust glove costs or stats — watch Updates Hub. If your planned glove nerfs, pause spending until tier lists update.
Promo code spikes
When verified codes land on Codes Hub, redeem via How to Redeem then execute the next planned purchase immediately — inflated Hit totals tempt impulse buys.
